Interested in Becoming a Real Estate Agent?

Real estate can be a great career. Being your own boss, setting your own schedule, and having the potential to earn a great income are just a few of the pros of working in this industry. However, there is a lot to real estate that you must understand before making the commitment.

As an independent contractor you are in charge of managing your own business – building your contacts and leads, maintaining client needs, networking, marketing, advertising, continuing education, etc.

An agent must be a customer focused, self-starter with a business owner mindset.

What Do I Do Next?

If you believe you fit these criteria and have what it takes to be a successful agent, there is some preliminary work to do.

  • Michigan requires 40 hours of education courses, either in the classroom or online.

  • The state also requires continuing education every year to maintain your real estate license.

  • After you complete your required education, you must submit your real estate license application, and take and pass the licensing exam.

  • In order to sell real estate you must be listed with a broker. It Is best to set up a few meetings to interview potential company partners.
